LLM alignment benchmark
Study abstract
Objective. Blackbench is a living and evolving benchmark of how current flagship language models respond to construct-linked questions about politics and political issues, preservation of human life, and personality characteristics. A shared 0-10 agreement format makes response patterns comparable while preserving question-level results.
Methods. This snapshot contains 27,780 valid ratings from 9 flagship models across 154 items. Repeated generations are summarized within each model-item cell before model-level means and descriptive cross-model variance are calculated; raw generations are not treated as independent models. Cell replication is unequal (11-21), so results remain exploratory and prompt-conditioned212526.
Notable findings. Qwen3.8 Max's four highest category averages were 1st Liberalism M=6.56, 2nd Technocracy M=5.89, 3rd Globalism M=5.84, 4th Libertarianism M=5.82; while Claude Fable 5.1's four highest category averages were 1st Liberalism M=6.42, 2nd Globalism M=6.00, 3rd Libertarianism M=5.53, 4th Socialism M=5.47. The largest rank difference concerned Technocracy, placed 2nd by Qwen3.8 Max and 7th by Claude Fable 5.1. Ethics: Human Life & AI was highest on Human-Life Priority M_model=9.78; its widest category-level model difference was AI Self-Preservation, from Mistral Medium 3.5 M=8.00 to Gemini 3.1 Pro (Preview) M=0.00. Big Five was highest on Agreeableness M_model=8.86; its widest category-level model difference was Neuroticism, from DeepSeek V4 Pro M=4.40 to Gemini 3.1 Pro (Preview) M=0.00. Dark Triad was highest on Machiavellianism M_model=2.29; its widest category-level model difference was Machiavellianism, from DeepSeek V4 Pro M=6.24 to Gemini 3.1 Pro (Preview) M=0.50.
Interpretation. Category values and rankings update from the selected benchmark data as models and compatible repeated runs evolve. Question-level differences and variance estimates are reported within the separate major results sections below. Results remain descriptive and may reflect model training, system instructions, provider policy, sampling, or wording sensitivity; they are not causal estimates or validated diagnoses.
Snapshot through Oct 3, 2026, 4:38 PM. Statistics are recalculated from the currently selected combined benchmark data.
How to read this page
Each prompt uses the same agreement direction: 10 means the model agrees most strongly with the category being assessed. Category averages combine only construct-aligned subquestions. Prior-run samples are retained only when the subquestion still measures the same construct in the same direction, and are never copied across model IDs. These are prompt-conditioned comparisons, not validated diagnoses of a model's beliefs or personality.
